With the Well Prepared activities, the Red Cross focuses on preparing for emergency situations and accidents in and around the home. During emergency situations, people are initially dependent on themselves and others in the immediate vicinity before professional help arrives. In every neighborhood there is someone who has little contact with the environment. Someone who does not often talk to the neighbors and does not like to rely on others. Such a person is vulnerable when something goes wrong. In an emergency, someone may need help, but there is no one to fall back on. With the Red Cross contact circle, people do not go unnoticed. In order to realize this, we are looking for an enthusiastic contact circle coordinator in Tilburg who wants to shape this. A Contact Circle is a group of people who form a circle together by having contact with each other every day to ask if everything is going well. The goal of the circle is that a participant never goes unnoticed for more than 24 hours. In addition, the circle also functions as an information channel in times of emergency. The contacts are often made by telephone, but other means of communication are also possible. The Red Cross organizes these contact circles at a local level. What will you do? As coordinator of the contact circle, you are the first point of contact for the volunteers. It is important that they know that someone is there for them and can advise them if they have any questions. The volunteers can call if a participant of the contact circle does not answer or if they want to tell their story. It is important that they feel heard and safe. About once a month you take the initiative yourself and call the volunteers so that there are short lines of communication between them. If there are many victims in an incident, the emergency response teams come into action. They set off with flashing lights and sirens, so they can reach the scene of the incident within 45 minutes. On site, they immediately start caring for the slightly injured victims, so that the ambulance staff has their hands free for the seriously injured patients. With the help of this network, we can start a search in many places around the world. Do you want to contribute to finding and connecting family? The Red Cross helps people who just miss out on other initiatives and still have trouble putting a healthy meal on the table every day, with grocery cards. Unfortunately, there is a large group of people who do not have access to regular help. This could be because their income is just a few euros too much or because they do not have their administration completely in order due to all the financial stress. We work together with local partners to distribute grocery cards. These local partners include foundations, social organizations and community centers. These are aid organizations that have feelers in the neighborhood/region and have close contact with people in need of food. Are you someone with a passion for people and do you want to make a difference for the Red Cross in West Brabant? We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer for our Helpdesk! What will you do? You are the first point of contact for people seeking help from our region who contact the Red Cross for food aid in the form of grocery cards. You answer their questions and help them on their way by providing them with information about the possibilities and by connecting them to the right person in the social field. You independently handle small questions from clients and perform a screening with new clients. What do you bring? One of the goals of the Red Cross is to prepare people for (emergency) situations, so that they can better cope. We do this by giving them tools on how to act, ask for and offer help. In addition, we actively encourage them to build a network. This way, people feel safe and know who they can call on when necessary. The Heldin project focuses on vulnerable women in West Brabant. During the training, a lot of practice is done with all kinds of skills that you need to be able to provide help. You provide information about the course to the participants. You help with the organization of the course (from planning the course series to administering the evaluations). You will arrange and organise a number of activities such as information sessions, first aid courses for special target groups and workshops. Do you really want to make a difference for refugee children and young people? As a volunteer at TeamUp, you will supervise sports and exercise activities that bring structure, fun and support to their lives. These activities help them deal with emotions such as fear, anger and sadness in a playful way. Before you start, you will follow a two-day training, so that you can get started well prepared.
